About the Unified Inventory....how do i say this with the upmost respect, professionalism, and maturity?
UNIFIED INVENTORY IS A GREAT IDEA BUT NOT LAID OUT ANYWHERE CLOSE FOR A FINAL BUILD, REGARDLESS IF PLANNED TO UPDATE OR TO MAKE IT BETTER AT A LATER DATE.
I strongly urge to rollback the normal ships, item, and corp hanger layout as quickly as possible either permanently or until a better solution is discovered and thoroughly tested. I'm having a tough time finding where my stuff is at as there is simply TOO MUCH INFORMATION IN THE WINDOW.
There's a lot of quarky things about the new inventory that simply doesn't make sense why it was implmented. Here are a few:
* If there's a desire in having ship fittings easier to access, which before wasn't all that hard, then could have placed a button or link to the ship fittings screen instead of listing out every fitting in a file tree. The fact that you can collaspe menu items doesn't help at all.
* If I have seperated any windows off of the Unified Inventory main screen (Alt + C) I have to depress the Alt + C keystroke to see the menu if previously closed while windows are seperated off. Is burdensome.
* Corporation hanger names aren't shown when (Left Cick + Shift) is pressed. Tab names simply read "Corporation Hanger" -- not even a number is given. Fix that.
* I now have to seperate the cargohold window from each of my current ships and any ships I buy in the future or else it pops up into the unfied inventory menu. And once it's seperated the cargohold window is much larger than before with the current layout and widgets in there such as the isk value. Cool feature but bad implemenation if you ask me.
* All new asset related windows are first defaulted to the unified inventory menu (Alt + C) and have to seperate it out from there to wherever you want it placed. If Eve is a sandbox does that not extend to the placement of windows? And wasn't there a patch that made each window manueverable a year ago?
Furthermore, I was under the impression that Unified Inventory was another hanger or container that was isolated to setting up the logistical aspects of a fleet, whether it be for pvp, pve, incursions, etc. To me, it was advertised as a way of pooling assets into one pool and then distributing those assets among the entire fleet or at least the entire fleet has access to those resources. How would that all work, I dunno but thought that's what it was for.
I also don't fully understand why the entire face of the game had to change in the way we organized our stuff instead of an additional feature implemented. I've been playing Eve for several years and I'm supposed to just completely revolutionize teh way I access my stuff -- get real CCP.
There was nothing wrong the the previous methods and if it had a large enough impact on server load then fix it another way because the current iterration of Unified Inventory simply sucks balls. I am now more frustrated with this game than ever before and it's a large enough impact on me and the way I play this game that I am starting to think if it's worth playing at all.
CCP, I know you will do the right thing when it comes down to doing the right thing so please DO THE RIGHT THING HERE.
If a dev wants to sit down with me via IRC, Eve Voice, or simply forums or email I will be more than happy to explicity and very detailed my points of view in a mature manner.

When it comes to Unified Inventory this is what needs to happen to convience us to try to make it work for our style of gameplay:
* Remove the cargohold window from Unified Inventory
* Add button or link to open up the Ship Fittings from Unified Inventory instead of listed in the tree menu
* Cause the corporation hanger, ship hanger, and items hanger to spawn a seperated window by default
* Put corporation hanger names on the tabs
* Compact the header and footer sections of the seperated windows as it takes up too much space for those who have normal sized monitors and laptops.
* Last but not least, add option to turn off Unified Inventory just like the option to toggle between captain's quarters and ship spinning was introduced.
This is the will of 99% of all eve players....if anyone disagrees with me please post your comments. |

Found out yesterday the items and ships hangers, and virtually every other window seperated from Unified Inventory, don't stay seperated after log off. It does still remember the positioning and size but you have to Shift + Click to get it back. THIS WILL HAPPEN EVERY TIME YOU LOG ON!!
So this means every time we log on I have to go through the stupid Unified Inventory and Shift + Click all my windows back to where I want them? CCP, you obviously don't play Eve as much as we do.
Spending an extra few moments every time I login to play this game is a complete waste of time when there was nothing wrong with the previous way the windows where placed at. And drag and drop in the Unified Window is not working for me.
In the previous way the windows worked: For those who complained about persistant windows not working if you opened up the delieveries window it was persistant and it's size and placement remained constant. You could drag and drop your corporation hangers and container windows into that area and it would remember every time you docked in station and also would stay put after log off.
CCP, it would be so much better to rollback the Unified Inventory before you have people getting so frustrated they are unable to play the game as we're used to that I just don't pay you anymore money and close my account. Rollback the windows to get rid of Unified Inventory. |

I agree, the Unified Inventory just makes more sense to put it as the Assets (Alt + T) rather than replacing the windows that make up the items hanger, ships hanger, all corporation hangers, pos corporation hangers, and the cargobay.
Seriously, there was nothing wrong with that and with Unified Inventory as the assets window that would have been great!
If anyone disagrees with me please make yourself known.

By the logic of the dev posts I've read about Unified Inventory one could interpret that by having less windows is good.
Why not put everything that eve has to offer in one window? One window to rule them all! |
